Carpet is a key decorative element in determining a room's overall
look and feel. Offering unlimited colors, textures and patterns to suit
your lifestyle, carpet from Classique Floors adds comfort beauty and warmth to
any room. Carpet is practical, too. It insulates, reducing heating costs, and
absorbs noise. Carpet also provides a cushioning layer of protection and
comfort.
USE
OF THE CARPET Before purchasing carpet, you should ask yourself the
following questions: How is the room going to be used? Will it have heavy or
light traffic? Will the room be the center of activity for family and
entertaining? Is there direct access from outside, or will the carpet be away
from entrances? This will help you determine which carpet is best for each area
of your home.

QUANTITY Whether you plan to carpet one room or many areas
of your home, determine approximately how many square feet of carpet you will
need by multiplying the area's length (feet) by its width (feet). As a "rule of
thumb", add 10% to account for room irregularities. Classique Floors will make
the final measurements to ensure that you purchase the correct amount. As
professionals, we know how to include hallways and closets, plan seam
placements, work with any room irregularities, and account for rooms wider than
12 feet. (Most carpet is produced in 12-foot widths.)
COLOR Carpet offers more color options than any other
floor covering; make sure that your desired color scheme is the one that unites
your decorative elements with the practical considerations to create the
atmosphere you desire. New stain and soil resistant technology makes today's
lighter colored carpet much easier to clean, allowing more decorating options.
But, keep in mind, medium and darker colors, patterns, tweeds and textures can
help disguise common soil in your home's high traffic areas.
CUSHION Carpet cushion plays an important role in
extending the life of your carpet. Carpet cushion increases comfort and adds
insulation, while reducing noise. Carpet cushion should be firm and resilient
to absorb the impact of footsteps. The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) standards
stipulate that the thickness shall not exceed 7/16 of an inch. Carpet cushion
meeting these criteria will enhance your carpet's performance.
COST Your budget and your needs are two key elements in
making your purchase, as carpet and rugs offer a wide range of choices and
costs from which to make your selection. Buy the best carpet you can afford for
high-traffic areas of your home - halls, stairways, family room, etc. A lower
grade carpet can provide a good service in rooms with less traffic like
bedrooms and guest rooms.

CARPET CONSTRUCTION
Carpet
is produced using a natural or synthetic fiber and designed to provide style,
easy maintenance and value. The type of fiber used and the way that the carpet
is constructed determines the basic performance of the carpet. Density refers
to the amount of pile yarn in the carpet and the closeness of the tufts, or
"stitches". The denser the pile, the longer your carpet will last.
